ABOUT VOLUME 1: COMMUNITY
This first book in our new basic Judaism series introduces the key concept of the Jewish community. Through stories, interviews, and activities, students will discover how our community brings us together, providing a lifelong connection to our heritage, culture, and values.

ABOUT VOLUME 2: SACRED TIME
This second book is about living according to Jewish time-the Jewish calendar, Shabbat and the cycle of holidays, and life cycle events. It examines a Jewish view of time through the lens of the building blocks of Jewish identity-our shared history and stories, shared language, symbols and rituals, and ethical teachings. Students will develop an understanding of how time is an important and sacred part of Jewish life.

ABOUT THE SERIES
The four-volume series introduces students to an organized sequence of core knowledge that is essential to developing a strong Jewish identity. Each volume in the Building Jewish Identity series explores the myths, laws, language, symbols, rituals, and ethical teachings that create a distinctive Jewish worldview. The first two volumes are for grades 3-4, and the next two volumes, to be released in 2013, are for grades 4-5.
